All About Us
Whilst working as independent Department for Transport Approved Driving Instructors (ADI), one of the directors (Tina Preston) was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus – an autoimmune connective tissue disease. The deterioration in her personal health and the subsequent experiences of the current Mobility Assessment regime led us to start researching the disability market. We discovered gaps in the quality and availability of assessment and training for people with disabilities. This fits with gaps we identified in training provision amongst the most vulnerable road user groups, i.e. young people (15-25) & older people (a rapidly growing section of society).
So, the idea of Diverse Road Safety as a social enterprise was born on a napkin one Friday evening in late 2009 and started trading as a Community Interest Company Ltd by Guarantee in April 2010. Diverse Road Safety’s aims are to provide person-centred services for vulnerable road users across the North West taking a person-centred approach to driver training for people with mobility issues, not a ‘one size fits all’ system as is used by most individual trainers around the country.
The Company is run by Jo Webster, Amanda Rampello & Tina Preston with over 30 years experience between them.
All of our instructors are qualified to DVSA Grade 5 or 6 and have additional fleet qualifications, along with full professional and public liability insurance as well as fully comprehensive driving school insurance.
